At the General Prosecutor's Office they discussed issues of compliance with the law on probation - 1244806523

September 28, 2018, there was a meeting of the Coordination Council for the Rule of Law, Law Enforcement and Crime Control chaired by the Prosecutor General Kairat Kozhamzharov, where they discussed compliance by the authorized bodies with the probation law.

The Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council G. Baizhanov, representatives of the Administration of the President, concerned ministries and departments, as well as members of the Coordination Council took part in the meeting.

In pursuance of the instructions of the Head of the State, the policy of humanization of criminal legislation is being consistently implemented.

Since 2011, a number of reforms have been carried out to decriminalize non-dangerous crimes and reduce the overall repressiveness of the criminal process.

At the meeting, they paid special attention to social and psychological assistance, which is aimed at the earliest adaptation in the society of persons on probation records.

 “As part of humanization, it is necessary to conduct effective re-socialization of persons convicted of alternative punishment measures and social adaptation of former prisoners,” Kozhamzharov noted.

In addition, they discussed issues of vocational training, employment and microcredit own business.

The effectiveness of this work largely depends on the interaction of state and local executive bodies.

According to the Prosecutor General, it is necessary to revise certain aspects of the probation institute’s activities, to use the positive experience of OECD countries.

It was proposed to equip the registered electronic bracelets, which will allow fixing their movement, as well as provide video recorders with probation inspectors.

According to the results of the Coordination Council, they developed a set of measures, the implementation of which will increase the efficiency of the probation service in accordance with international standards.
